Don Bosco Chinthanaloka obtained associate status with the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome.
Higher education institutions in Sri Lanka and many other countries have traditionally included a philosophy department, or other unit, generally teaching single honours degrees. In accordance with the Government Notifications on the University Act, no. 16 of 1978 of Sri Lanka, the Academic Council proposed to the Governing Board (Provincial & His Council) the possibility of obtaining Associate Status to Don Bosco Chinthanaloka with the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome. The project was launched in August 2015 and on 25th July 2016 our beloved Rector Major Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime approved the project granting to Don Bosco Chinthanaloka the Associate Status ad experimentum for the triennial period 2016-2019. With the same decree is also approved on an experimental basis for a period of three years the biennial Curriculum of a University Diploma in Philosophy according to the provision of Art. 72 of the Apostolic Constitution Sapientia Christiana. The Academic Council is currently carrying out the self-evaluation report for institutional review of Don Bosco Chinthanaloka in accordance with the Guidelines provided by the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways (MoHEH) to obtain the Degree Awarding Status for a non-state higher educational institute in Sri Lanka.
