The visit of the rector major: A red letter day in the annals of chinthanaloka
We, the community members of Don Bosco Chinthanaloka, Kotadeniyawa experienced Heaven on Earth as we witnessed the presence of Rev. Fr. Angel Fernandez Artime, SDB the Rector Major of the Salesian Congregation. Amidst much preparation and expectation, the Salesians of Kotadeniyawa along with the Novitiate community has jointly received the Rector Major at 06.45 a.m., who was accompanied by Rev. Fr. Maria Arokiam Kanaga, SDB, the Regional Superior of South Asia, Rev. Fr. Joseph Almeida, SDB, the Provincial and the members of the media committee. After receiving a warm and colourful welcome, he presided over the well animated liturgy, where he insisted on the need for the unity in diversity in the Salesian formation and mission. Following a sumptuous breakfast, he enthusiastically shared with us the necessary details about the Salesian world. During his fatherly interaction he had driven home the point that there is a greater need to discern Salesian Vocation especially during the initial formation. Rev. Fr. Thomas Ellicherail, SDB, the Rector expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation for all the help and support rendered by the Rector Major. Being impressed by the Salesian life lived in our community, he left our community. Really it was a red letter day!
