INAUGURATION OF B. Ph. PROGRAMME AT DON BOSCO CHINTHANALOKA, INSTITUTE OF PHILOSOPHY AND HUMANITIES

The official inauguration of B. Ph. Programme at Don Bosco Chinthanaloka, Institute of Philosophy and Humanities was held on Monday 30th/Sep/2019. The day was begun with the Holy Eucharist at 09:30 a.m., presided over by the Chief Guest Rt. Rev. Bp. Reymond Wickramasinghe, the Bishop of Galle. It was followed by a short refreshment at 10: 30 a.m.

The Inaugural Programme commenced at 11:00 a.m. with the words of welcome by Rev. Fr. Thomas Ellecherail sdb, the Rector of Don Bosco Chinthanaloka, Institute of Philosophy and Humanities.

During the programme the Annual Report of the year 2018-2019 was presented by Rev. Fr. Susith Milroy sdb, the Principal of the College which summarized in detail the forgone events of the whole year. That was followed by a Musical Choir "Motet: Ave Verum Corpus", led by Rev. Fr. Susith Milroy sdb.

The keynote address was given by Rev. Fr. Dr. Francis Jeyaraj Rasiah SJ, the former Provincial of Jesuits in Sri Lanka. . Here at `Chinthanaloka` as young students are being formed the Lectio Brevis today titled: "Elements for an Integrated Formation of Religious for Future". The speaker today spelled out these Six Elements in some detail.

1. Interiority
2. Psychosexual and affective integration
3. Conversation
4. Critical thinking
5. Universal perspective
6. Discerned action.

Adding to this the Student Brothers of Don Bosco Chinthanaloka had presented a mime, titled "Philosophy Then and Now" that gave more insight to do philosophy according to this present context.

This inaugural function was crowned by appreciating in the budding artists of Sri Lanka, Master. Malindu Mihisara Pradinath from Galle, the winner of the Toyota Dream Car International Art Contest 2018, the most popular artist and artwork of 2018, Tokyo - Japan, and Mr Palitha Jayasekara.

Then Rev. Fr. Joseph Almeida the Provincial of the Vice-Province, Sri Lanka, declared the New Academic Year 2019 – 2020 open with his short message. And then Rev. Fr. Thomas Arockiasamy, the Dean of Studies had proposed the vote of thanks.

The programme ended with a melodious hymn to Don Bosco. At 01:00 p.m. a sumptuous lunch was served to all those who witnessed the even. Indeed, the Inaugural function was well organized by the staff and Students of the college.
